KOCHAMHK Scholarship for Korean Minor Students

The Korean Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong has agreed to offer a scholarship to the university for students who have achieved outstanding academic results in the Minor in Korean Studies Programme offered by the Department of Chinese, Translation & Linguistics. The following regulations shall apply as of 2012/2013:

Regulations:

  1. The scholarship shall be known as the "KOCHAMHK Scholarship for Korean Minor Students"
  2. There shall be 4 annual awards in the amount of HK$5,000 each.
  3. The Scholarship will be awarded to Full Time UGC-funded undergraduate students who meet criteria (i) – (iii) below, at the time of application:
    1. pursuing Korean Minor in the Department of Chinese, Translation and Linguisitcs;
    2. completing at least 12 credits of Korean Minor requirement courses;
    3. obtaining an average GPA score of 3.30 or above in all four Korean courses completed, and with no failure in any one of the courses.
  4. 4 The Scholarship shall be open for applications in February of academic year 2012/13. Nominations from the Department of Chinese, Translation and Linguistics shall reach the Student Development Services in March/April of the academic year for which the scholarships are designated.

Remark:
With an objective to nurture our students and promote a caring culture, the Community Relations Committee of the University Council has recommended that each award recipient is expected to make an annual donation of at least HK$200 to City University of Hong Kong for student support via CityU Alumni Giving Club when they are in employment after graduation. This term will be incorporated into all scholarship/prize/award/bursary schemes, whether they are donated by external donors or contributed by University funding, with effect from February 2008.

Mr & Mrs Choe Young U Scholarship for CTL Korean Studies

Mr and Mrs Choe Young U have kindly agreed to donate two scholarships totalling the amount of HK$20,000 to students of BALS-KR in the Department of Chinese, Translation and Linguistics with effect from the academic year 2012/13.

Regulations:

Mr & Mrs Choe Young U has agreed to establish an annual scholarship scheme to the university with effect from 2012/2013 in order to (i) offer financial assistance for students who have demonstrated outstanding ability to succeed in their Korean study in the "BALS-KR" programme in the Department of Chinese, Translation & Linguistics, in the City University of Hong Kong; and (ii) support and nurture the young, future Korean experts who will contribute in the global community by bridging between Korea and Hong Kong/Greater China region. The following regulations shall apply as of 2012/2013:

  1. The scholarship shall be known as the "Mr & Mrs Choe Young U Scholarship for CTL Korean Studies".
  2. There shall be two awards and the value of each award shall be HK$10,000.
  3. The scholarships will be awarded to non-UGC funded students who are enrolled in "BALS-KR" programme in the Department of Chinese, Translation & Linguistics, City University of Hong Kong, and who have achieved outstanding academic results in Korean language studies.
  4. Nominations from the Department of Chinese, Translation & Linguistics shall reach the Student Development Services no later than January 2013 and the awards shall then be made as soon as possible.
  5. Confirmation will be sought from the donor before 1 September 2013 on whether or not the donation will be continued for the following academic year.
