Key objectives
  • To set up a language acquisition studio and a discourse analysis studio for collecting, editing and analyzing speech and discourse data (audio and video) for first and second language research purposes.
  • To investigate cross-language consonants production and perception, first and second language sentence perception in noise by adults, as well as the relationship between speech production and perception.
  • To examine roles of discourse markers in spoken discourse; to compare across languages prosodic and textual features of discourse markers; and to study the effects of such features in cross-language acquisition.
