Guidelines

Please observe the following for the Minor in Japanese Studies before submission of your application form:
  1. Students must complete the required courses, which totals 15 credit units in order to fulfill the Minor in Japanese Studies.
  2. Student must complete all courses required in the Minor in Japanese Studies before graduation.
  3. Students should have completed 9 credit units of coursework offered in the Minor in Japanese Studies before submission of an application form.
  4. Students must obtain the result of "C- or above" in order to qualify for the Minor award.
  5. Credit Transfer up to 6 credit units is allowed for the Minor in Japanese Studies. Normally, credit transfer will only be allowed for coursework undertaken at a recognized university. Students who apply for credit transfer for "required language courses" will be asked to sit a test. The result of the test will be used to decide the maximum number of credits to be transferred. The CTL department reserves the right to approve or not to approve applications for credit transfer
  6. Exemption will not be allowed for the Minor in Japanese Studies. However, students may be exempted from the requirement to take the two basic courses (CTL2930 and CTL2931) if they have passed the placement test during add/drop period.
  7. The application period will be the same as the Add/Drop period set by the Academic Regulations and Records Office (ARRO). The application form should be returned to the CTL General Office before the end of the Add/Drop period. NO LATE APPLICATIONS WILL BE PROCESSED AFTER THE ABOVE SAID PERIOD.
  8. Students must get approval from their parent Department before submission of the application form.
  9. The courses offered in the Minor may not be offered each Semester, students should make sure that they have fulfilled the requirements of the Minor in Japanese Studies.
  10. The CTL Department reserves the right to approve or not to approve the application for Minor in Japanese Studies.
    Not all courses may be offered each semester. The CTL Department reserves the right to offer courses according to available resources and adequate demand.
  11. The CTL Department reserves the right to offer the courses in any Semester.
  12. The CTL Department reserves the right not to offer undersubscribed courses.
  13. Students should complete the application form for the minor award. The form should be returned to the CTL General Office together with a copy of the academic transcript within one week after announcement of examination result by the ARRO.
