CTL Summer School at University of Sydney

Background

A total of 11 CTL Students have participated in the CTL Summer School Programme and stayed at the University of Sydney for two weeks to attend a course on cross-cultural communication. The course provided students with the necessary understanding of speech events, and of language and social relations in order to analyze inter-cultural and cross-cultural communication. Furthermore, they have been offered the chance to communicate with undergraduate and postgraduate students who came from various parts of the world.

Reflection of Some Participants

	Chan Ching Wa Benson BA Translation and Interpretation I enjoyed the wonderful Sydney trip with ten brilliant and cheerful friends! We struggled to squeeze some spare time from the tight schedule to have fun. I have gained a lot from this and it is highly recommended.

	Chow Pui Hang BA Chinese This summer school is the most enjoyable student activity in my school life! I hope that CTL will continue to organize this summer school in the coming years and more CTL students will join this activity.

	Lam Ka Yan BA Chinese The summer school was really memorable and all of us had a wonderful experience in Australia. Although the course was challenging, we overcame difficulties together! A highly recommended programme!

	Lau Ka Yu BA Chinese It's no doubt that the trip provides an opportunity for me to meet new friends with various cultural backgrounds at the University of Sydney. I strongly recommend this summer course to all students!

	Wong Hing Fan Louisa BA Translation and Interpretation Through this Sydney summer school programme, I learned how to communicate with people effectively. My time management skills have also been improved! It also builds up my confidence in speaking English!

	Yu Cheuk Ling BA Translation and Interpretation I have learned a lot from this summer school activity! We learnt to deal with pressure, not to mention English proficiency. Overall, I am really grateful for this experience as I gained a lot in terms of both academic and personal growth.
