Dr. SIN received his BA and MA from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and his PhD from the Southern Illinois University. He is now Associate Professor at the Department of Chinese, Translation and Linguistics, City University of Hong Kong, teaching legal translation, translation theory, and philosophy of language. He worked in the Judiciary as a court interpreter from 1978 to 1980. From 1980 to 1987 he was engaged by a French oil corporation based in China operating training in English, translation and interpretation. He served on the Bilingual Laws Advisory Committee from 1990 to 1997 and was appointed MBE (Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) by the British Government for his contribution to the translation of Hong Kong laws into Chinese. His research interest and publications are in the areas of language and law, and the philosophy of language.
